Dr. Mahesh has been involved in teaching and mentoring medical students & residents for the past 10- years. He currently serves as the Program Director of the Ophthalmology residency program at the Westchester Medical Center/ New York Medical College.
Dr. Mahesh has completed a research fellowship in clinical immunology at the National Institutes of Health and is a named author on many peer-reviewed publications, covering many important topics in ocular inflammation, ocular surface disease and wound healing, autoimmune eye disease, corneal degeneration and dystrophies, and genetic profiling of ocular disease. At NYMC, he is the co-principal investigator in a large multicenter clinical study related to a type of herpetic eye disease and is supervising several resident research projects.
Dr. Mahesh’s approach to patient care is centered on educating patients so that they are fully aware of their diseases & implication on their health. He is a firm believer that patients who participate effectively in the decision-making process involving their own health, benefit both patient and physician and results in achieving a high degree of patient satisfaction.

He has more than 20 years of experience in treating and managing Corneal diseases including corneal infections, complex anterior segment disorders, including limbal stem cell deficiency, and immunological disorders of the eye.
