About Heather Galonzka, NP-C
Heather Galonzka, NP-C, is a Certified Nurse Practitioner, a member of the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Dermatology Nurses’ Association. Heather attended The University of Massachusetts Boston, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked as a Registered Nurse for Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. She then decided to further her career and pursue her dream of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She was accepted into the competitive Graduate School of Nursing (Adult-Gerontology PCNP track) at UMass Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. She excelled in her studies and was quick to advocate for herself, classmates and patients during this academic and clinical journey. Subsequently, she was presented with the Mary K. Alexander Academic Achievement and Leadership Award upon commencement in 2015.
Heather’s passion for Dermatology is long-standing and developed prior to obtaining her graduate degree. She was fortunate to have an aunt who is a Physician Assistant in Dermatology and had allowed her to observe clinically throughout the years. By the time she was accepted into graduate school, it was clear to Heather that Dermatology was her calling. As Dermatology was not an available specialty track, Heather advocated for a Dermatology rotation, in addition to her rigorous educational and clinical curriculum. This allowed her to train under a well-studied and well-respected Dermatologist in Worcester, Massachusetts. Upon graduation, Heather accepted her first Dermatology position at The Dermatology Center of Worcester. She was incredibly fortunate to have extensive individualized training, which allowed her dreams of working in Dermatology to blossom.
During her time at The Dermatology Center of Worcester, Heather’s skill set evolved, and she developed meaningful long-standing relationships with many of her patients and their families. After The Dermatology Center of Worcester, Heather accepted a position with UMASS Dermatology as this brought promise of new challenges and professional growth. This position was abundant with obstacles as UMASS Dermatology is home to numerous patients with vastly complex medical histories and dermatological concerns. During her time with UMASS, Heather dedicated herself to making every patient feel important and heard, which was highlighted in her extraordinary patient reviews. While embracing the experience of an academic-based facility, Heather craved the intimacy that private practice offered. She knew that her long-term home would be in the private practice setting, as this more aligned with her priorities of providing patient-centered care and the comprehensive Dermatological experience. Heather joined the team at Skin Dermatology in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts in August 2021. Working closely with Dr. Alissa Lamoureux, she is dedicated to creating the best possible patient experience and highest quality care for our patients.
Heather is committed to expanding her skill set and is devoted to staying up to date on the latest research and Dermatological news. She treats a wide array of dermatology concerns, with Acne being her area of passion.
