About Lori Barnett, LCSW
It is my belief that mutual trust and respect between client and clinician are the most important tools in establishing a healthy therapeutic relationship, and these principles are the foundation of my practice. In addition to that, I use a variety of clinical interventions to help clients achieve their goals, including: • Psychodynamic Therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• Mindfulness
I’ve been privileged to have spent the past decade working with a highly diverse group of clients, representing a wide mix of ethnicities, faiths, sexual orientations, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My experience as a clinician has been greatly enriched by the wide spectrum of people and issues I have encountered.
My clients have included older adolescents and adults at the Kean University Counseling Center, and children, adults and seniors at Jewish Family Services of Northern New Jersey.
Prior to becoming a mental health professional, I worked in corporate marketing and advertising. This experience deepened my capacity for active listening, for fully understanding client needs, and for identifying effective and realistic solutions.
The Inspired Mind offers weekly outpatient therapy for adults, ages 18+. My clients have achieved success in a wide variety of areas, including:
-
Releasing the pain associated with depression
-
Calming the internal voice of anxiety
-
Emerging stronger after facing past trauma
-
Exploring issues of Identity, including LGBTQ concerns
-
Creating healthier, more fulfilling relationships
-
Coping with the stress of life transitions, both expected and unforeseen
-
Exploring professional growth
-
Showing kindness to, and acceptance of, themselves, in many cases for the first time ever
