About Nicolette J. Bidlingmeyer, MSW, LCSW, IFECMHS
Parenting is a wild ride and not for the faint-hearted. Here's what I hear most from the parents I have worked with: "I'm exhausted and constantly feel as though I'm walking on 'egg shells'...," "Her behavior makes no sense to me...," "He goes from 0-60...," "I feel so alone..., "I feel like a bad parent..." If you feel like you are constantly putting out fires and dreading the next meltdown, I'm the right person to help. As an Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, experienced child and family therapist, and a mom of two kids under age 5, I bring a unique expertise to help you and your child through "it."
I offer dyadic therapy (caregiver and child participate together) and supplemental caregiver coaching to help families find balance and joy in their daily lives again. I use play-based, relationship-focused approaches based on the latest neuroscience and attachment research to help you and your child deal with big feelings and BIG behaviors.
As I said, parenting is tough. Kids behavior can be baffling and definitely overwhelming, particularly if there has been trauma or a major change. As a mom of two kids under 5, I get it. I'm in the trenches with you and ready to give you the insight and support you need. Kids (and adults) do well "when they can." Let me help you and your family grow together.
Education
I completed a dual Master's Degree Program in both Child Development (2011) and Clinical Social Work (2012) through Loyola University Chicago and the Erikson Institute. I also obtained a certification in Infant Mental Health through the Erikson Institute in 2011.
I am certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and am certified through the California Center for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health as an Infant-Family Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (IFECMHS).
