Began working as a telehealth therapist in June of 2020. Since then, I have found telehealth to be a very effective method of providing treatment to clients. Clients are able to meet in an environment that is comfortable for them.
Prior to working on my own, I was employed in a short-term geriatric psych hospital treating patients daily. In this position I worked extensively with patients to address their anxiety and depression, helping patients find the techniques that work for them to combat their thinking distortions.
In the hospital environment, my role was to address the problem with every patient that came through the door. Aggressive behaviors, anxiety and depression, paranoia, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts are, some of the issues I dealt with on a daily basis. Extreme manic behavior, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder are included as some of the more difficult problems we addressed.
Finding what worked specifically for each patient to address their issues individually promoted success for each patient.
