About Darshan Patel, MD
“Medicine, for me, has always been a calling as well as a privilege.” My goal was and is to do something better for society and dedicate myself to improving health & providing comprehensive care to patients.
Apart from the full spectrum of family medicine, I specialize in Geriatric Medicine. That is a multifaceted approach to the care of older adults, with the goal of promoting wellness and independent function. My work includes screening functional status, assessment of mobility, nutrition, vision, hearing, cognitive function, depression, social assessment; reducing polypharmacy; assessment and management of dementia, behavioral problems, delirium, osteoporosis, sleep disorders, incontinence, falls, pressure ulcers, pain, palliative care, preventive care, etc.
The practice of Lifestyle Medicine involves the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches, such as a predominantly whole food, plant-based diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substance use, and other non-drug modalities, to treat, reverse and prevent all too
prevalent lifestyle-related chronic disease.
The practice of obesity Medicine is dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with obesity including assessment, evaluation, nutrition, physical activity, medication, behavioral therapy, and pre & post bariatrics surgery management.
Education
Dr. Patel graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, with a Master of Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, from EA Conway Medical Center, from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport, and from Louisiana State University. Darshan Patel, MD earned a degree of a Doctor of Medicine.
