About Douglas L. Hendricks, MD
We recognize that being unable to change a part of your body that you are unhappy about can be frustrating, depressing, and discouraging and can affect lifetime happiness. We call it being comfortable within your own skin. Many times Dr. Hendricks has very simple solutions for these problems, and we have seen patients' lives transformed. In fact, we have treated people who were told to get anti-depressants and weekly psychotherapy who avoided going down that road just by correcting the area that was obviously producing self-consciousness in the first place.
After a decade of teaching plastic surgery, Dr. Hendricks opened Pacifica Cosmetic Surgery Center in Newport Beach California which was a life-long dream. He continues to innovate using the latest, most effective devices and techniques by creating a very specific plan for each patient wanting to look better and feel better. From subtle enhancements to significant changes, Dr. Hendricks gets his greatest fulfillment from making people look and feel younger.
Education
Dr. Hendricks attended College at the University of Maryland and graduated with High Honors in Microbiology. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville and went on to complete a 5 year General Surgery residency. He also completed a Research Fellowship in microsurgery at the University of Pittsburgh and then went on to complete a Plastic Surgery residency in Pittsburgh, one of the best plastic surgery programs in the United States.
Dr. Hendricks is currently Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, Surgery of the Hand, and General Surgery. After completing his training, he joined the faculty at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and taught plastic surgery residents the fine art of plastic surgery and microsurgery. He also published a number of papers and made presentations about innovations in plastic surgery techniques. He was even featured on a television show The Body Human 2000 which told the story of a patient who became severely ill from necrotizing fasciitis and almost lost his arm. Dr. Hendricks was able to surgically stop the infection which allowed him to keep his hand and arm which now functions normally.
