About Aleksandr Filen, PA-C
A certified physician assistant specializing in pain medicine, Aleksandr has been a part of Integrated Pain Specialists since 2016. His main goal is to reduce opioid utilization while providing therapeutic relief through epidural injections, facet joint injections, trigger point injections, bursa injections, intrathecal drug delivery systems, and spinal cord stimulator therapy.

Diagnostic studies and medication may be prescribed. Various intervention procedures may be utilized, including less invasive regenerative medicine platelets-rich plasma and stem cell therapies and steroid injections to more complex procedures such as radiofrequency, neural ablation procedures, peripheral nerve stimulators, percutaneous spinal cord stimulators, and programmable medication pump implants.
With an interest and passion for medicine at an early age, Aleksandr was led to pursue a pre-medical curriculum during his undergraduate years at UC Santa Barbara. With a course load ranging from biopsychology and research methods to neuroscience and physics, he received a broad yet definitive start to his physician assistant’s career.
During his physician assistant studies at the Western University of Health Sciences, he completed several rotations in family medicine, neurology, dermatology, and general surgery. After graduation in 2015, he moved to San Diego to be with his fiancée and start his new life away from his home in the San Fernando Valley.
Continuously advancing his efforts, Aleksandr is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
A Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) is a graduate of an accredited physician assistant educational program who has undergone testing by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. PA-Cs may do the following: conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, order and interpret lab tests, perform procedures, assist in surgery, provide patient education and counseling, and make rounds in hospitals and nursing homes.
During his free time, Aleksandr enjoys spending time exploring new places to eat, listening to live music, and going to San Diego Gulls hockey games. He is fluent in English, Swedish, and Russian
