About Alice D. Hoag, CPCS, LPC
As a counselor, my mission is to facilitate the healing of painful emotions, releasing past circumstances, restoring healthy relationships, retraining the mind, and ultimately being their better self regardless of their circumstances (present or past). My goal is to help others move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.
I began working in the Counseling field in 1986, and have a broad range of experience working with adults, teens, and children at in-patient hospitals, public mental health facilities, and in private practice. I have counseled individuals, couples, families, and groups, have led counseling seminars for the community in Habersham, Gwinnett, Fulton, and Cobb County churches, schools, and hospitals, have been a frequent guest on the radio speaking on mental health issues, have trained church lay counselors in basic counseling techniques, have taught undergraduate Psychology at a university, and have mentored and supervised interns and masters-level therapists. I am one of the co-founders and the clinical supervisor of the Habersham Survivors of Suicide support group, and one of the co-founders of the Victims of Childhood Adversity Counseling program at the Family Resource Center, the Habersham branch of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia.
Specialties: Adult (ages 35+) women for individual and couples counseling. Specialty areas include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, stress management, caregiver burnout, parenting issues, parents of adult children, families of chronically mentally ill adults, relationship conflicts, divorce recovery, survivors of physical and sexual abuse, survivors of suicide, crisis pregnancy, adoption issues, infertility, and spiritually-integrated counseling. I am currently training to become a certified gerontologist.
