According to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations 49 CFR Part 40, an employee in violation of the DOT regulations for drug or alcohol testing is required to complete the DOT Return To Duty Process with a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).
SAP professionals are qualified under the current specific, strict U.S. DOT regulation requirements. How The SAP Process Works:
• Referral from Direct Employee Representative (DER).
• Set an appointment with SAP for a one-on-one assessment/evaluation.
• Administer testing tools: Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI) and gather social history.
• Recommend appropriate level of care.
• Perform related case management and care coordination.
• Follow-up Evaluation for compliance and return to safety-sensitive duties.
• Follow-up Testing plan.
• Aftercare recommendations
Education
Scott has been working in the addictions and mental health counseling field since 1987.
Scott is licensed in the State of Vermont as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC #000090). He is also provided services as a Clinical Supervisor (Certification #103732) and is rostered as a Vermont Psychotherapist (License 097.0091377).
Scott completed his initial SAP Qualification Training with the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) in 2013.
