About Mateja Petje, MS, LMFT
I’ve worked with many prominent agencies in Miami-Dade and Broward County. Some of those include Switchboard of Miami, Department of Children and Families, Memorial Health Care Systems, Chrysalis Center, and Jewish Community Services.
My experience is vast including an extensive background working with families and at-risk children and adolescents. Although now, I primarily work with adults. I have more than fifteen years of experience as a counselor in the mental health field.
My ideal clients are adults who had experienced childhood abuse, trauma, challenging relationships, depression, and anxiety and it still affects their life; which is now known as Complex PTSD. I also equip my clients with top behavioral techniques to manage stress and daily challenges. My motto is "From victimhood to reclaiming your Authentic Self." I provide a safe healing place for my clients to share their concerns and help them reach effective short-term goals. My approach is humanistic and holistic and is based on cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused treatments. I work with adults only, individual sessions.
I have had great success with clients who need more than just traditional "talk therapy". I incorporate mind-body techniques, such as Hypnosis/Guided Meditation; Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT); and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). NLP is an approach that focuses on the subconscious mind by studying brain neurology and linguistics.
In addition to being a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am a Professional Life Coach and received my training from the Institute for Life Coach Training which is accredited by the International Coaching Federation. Prior to my private practice, I worked with several prominent agencies in Miami and Broward County.
Education
Back in 2008, I obtained my license in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I also acquired extensive training as a Professional Life Coach at the Institute of Life Coach Training founded by Dr. Patrick Williams. I was trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This was by a prominent Master Trainer in NLP and Hypnosis, Dr. Yvonne Oswald. I was fortunate to be trained by Gwenn Bonnell, the EFT certified practitioner. Finally, I have also been a Reiki Level II Practitioner since 2003.
