OAA Opticians

Opticians Association of America is a medical organization dedicated to Opticianry. Doctors and practitioners associated with OAA have special training and skill in designing, verifying and fitting eyeglass lenses and frames, contact lenses, and other devices to correct eyesight by fulfilling prescriptions supplied by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Opticians Association of America members perform measurement of client's eyes, face, and distance between their pupils; determination of appropriate eyewear for sports needs, work environment, or style preference; preparation of work orders for ophthalmic laboratory technicians; adjustment or repair of broken eyeglass frames; education of client on eyewear care and cleaning. Opticianry is the professional practice of filling prescriptions for ophthalmic lenses, dispensing eyeglasses, and fitting contact lenses. Significant diseases and conditions treated by many OAA members include farsightedness and nearsightedness. Medical tests, procedures and therapies provided by OAA healthcare providers include measurement of client's eyes, face, and distance between their pupils, preparation of work orders for ophthalmic laboratory technicians.
