About Jaya Sonkar, MD, MPH
Dr. Sonkar brings with her great experience in Rheumatology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine as well as Public Health. Preventive Health being her passion, she had earned a Masters's degree in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. She is also board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Her education comes from distinguished Universities: Rheumatology and Geriatrics Fellowship from UTMB, Galveston, Internal Medicine residency from New York Medical College @ St Michael's Medical Center, and MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. She believes that learning is an ongoing process and actively participates in regional and national conferences. She won the silver medal in the Knowledge Bowl competition at ACR Convergence 2020. She has published several posters and case reports. She also participated in Teaching Fellows Lupus Project from ACR in 2021. In addition to helping people in the process of healing, she also focuses on preventing the onset or flare of the diseases. She enjoys listening to her patients and honoring their core values and strives to provide her patients with a personalized experience. She strongly believes in treating the patient and not just the disease.
