The phlebologist is also trained in a variety of therapeutic interventions, which may include compression, sclerotherapy, cutaneous vascular laser, endovenous thermoablation procedures (laser and radiofrequency) endovenous chemical ablation, surgical procedures (e.g., ambulatory phlebectomy, venous ligation), vasoactive medications and the management of venous thromboembolism.

Dr. Robert A. Weiss received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1978. Following one year of internal medicine internship, and one year of radiology fellowship, Dr. Weiss completed a dermatology residency in 1983 at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and was board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Weiss has been Associate Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and is currently an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the U of MD School of Medicine.

He is Director of the MD Laser, Skin & Vein Institute of Dermatology in Baltimore. He is the Past President of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the laser society ASLMS.

Dr. Weiss has served as Associate or Contributing Editor for the Journal Dermatologic Surgery. He also serves on the Editorial Board for Lasers in Surgery and Medicine.
